Talbot County Records Division

The Talbot County Sheriff's Office Records Division maintains all reports and records for the agency. This includes criminal reports, traffic citations, civil citations, warnings, warrant tracking, civil process papers, and body camera footage. The records clerk can be reached at 410-822-1020. The fax number is 410-770-8110. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding holidays.

To request records, fill out a PIA request form. The form is available as a PDF on the sheriff's website. It asks for the date of your request, the date and case number of the incident (case numbers use a TS prefix), the location, your name, phone, address, and signature. You also pick the report type: accident, police investigation, or body camera/DVD request. There is a checkbox to indicate if you are the victim.

Note: The sheriff's office does not accept cash for records fees, so bring a check or money order made payable to TCSO.

Talbot County Police Blotter Fees

Talbot County has a detailed fee schedule for police blotter records. Incident reports cost $5 for the first five pages. Each page after that is $0.50. Accident reports are also $5, which includes the ACRS report. Detailed crash investigation reports cost $1 per page. Body camera footage and DVDs or CDs are $25 per disk. USB flash drives are priced on request. Photos and video beyond what comes with the report are $25 per disk.

The first two hours of research time are included in the base report fee. Any time beyond that is billed at $50 per hour. This covers additional preparation, redaction, and search time. Payment is required before records are released. The office accepts checks and money orders only. No cash. Make all payments payable to TCSO. Easton Police Department charges $5 per report as well. Mail requests to Town of Easton, P.O. Box 520, Easton, MD 21601.

How to Submit Your Records Request

You can submit your Talbot County police blotter request three ways. The first is in person at 28712 Glebe Road, Easton, Maryland. The second is by fax to 410-770-8110. The third is by email to Captain John Bollinger at jbollinger@talbotcountymd.gov. The agency must respond to your request within 30 days under the MPIA.

For incidents in the Town of Easton, contact the Easton Police Department directly. Their office is at 106 W Dover Street, Easton, MD 21601. They have their own records process. St. Michaels Police Department and Oxford Police Department also handle their own records for incidents within their town limits.

Talbot County Police Blotter Contents

Standard incident reports from the Talbot County Sheriff's Office include the incident date, time, and location. Each report has a case number with a TS prefix. The reporting deputy's name is listed, along with a narrative description of what happened. Reports include information about involved parties, witness statements when applicable, evidence collected, and any follow-up actions taken.

Body camera footage is available but costs $25 per DVD or CD. It may take extra processing time and is subject to redaction for privacy reasons. The sheriff's office also publishes press releases on their website that contain summaries of recent incidents and arrests. The press releases page is a good way to see recent police blotter activity without filing a formal request.

Note: Juvenile records must be requested through the Department of Juvenile Services, not through the sheriff's office directly.

Talbot County Court Records

Court records tied to Talbot County police blotter entries are available through the circuit court and district court in Easton. The circuit court handles felonies and major civil matters. The district court covers misdemeanors, traffic violations, and civil claims under $30,000. Both are searchable for free through the Maryland Judiciary Case Search.

Keep in mind that certain cases have been removed from the online system. Criminal cases ending in acquittal, dismissal, or nolle prosequi are no longer visible online as of 2024. Stet cases older than three years and cannabis possession cases disposed before July 1, 2023 have also been removed. For those records, contact the court clerk in person.
